RWE Plans 2,000-Megawatt CCGT Power Plant in England, an Industrial Info News Alert

GALWAY, IRELAND--(Marketwire - December 15, 2009) - Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) -- With the submission of plans for a 2,000-megawatt facility in Willington, Derbyshire, energy giant RWE AG (OTC:RWEOY) (Essen, Germany) is continuing an ambitious campaign for building gas-fired power stations in the United Kingdom. The plans have been submitted to the government's Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) by the company's U.K. arm, RWE npower (Swindon), which aims to build the combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant on the site of the former Willington A and B power stations. The cost of the project is estimated to be £1 billion ($1.63 billion).
