Rx Safes Targets New Market for Products

College and University Dorm Room Markets Targeted to Secure Meds and Valuables

HENDERSON, NV--(Marketwired - Jun 3, 2015) - Rx Safes, Inc. (OTC PINK: RXSF), the developer of patented fingerprint healthcare security products and secure prescription medicine lock-boxes, announced today that it has developed a new targeted sales program to distribute its Rx DrugSAFE product to colleges and universities in an effort to prevent theft of prescription drugs on U.S. campuses.

One of the most popular items stolen from dorm rooms is prescription medication, usually found lying around unsecured in the student's dorm room. While most college students use prescription drugs as directed by a physician, one in four college students aged 18 to 20 reported using these medications non-medically (NSDUH, 2008). College students misuse prescription medication to "get in the zone" or pull an all night study session. In addition, full-time college students are twice as likely to use stimulants for non-medical reasons as compared to those who aren't in college (SAMSHA, 2009). And all indications point to 40% of these misused medications being stolen from other students while living at school.

The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) at Columbia University found that nearly half of American college students abuse drugs or drink alcohol at least once a month, and that college students have a higher rate of drug addiction than the general public: 22.9% of all college students meet the medical definition for alcohol and drug abuse.

Students who are prescribed prescription medications for legitimate medical reasons must take steps to prevent dorm room theft by taking their medications as directed, keeping all medications safe, dry and secure and not sharing these medications with other students. The Rx DrugSAFE is the only product on the market that offers students the combined convenience and security of fingerprint technology, making it easy for students to keep their drugs safely secured, but accessible when needed.

"We have heard from too many families who have experienced tremendous hardship when sons/daughters illegally acquire prescription opioids, stimulants and other controlled substances while in college. These substances negatively affect their health and scholastic performance. Recently, a college student in New York City, high on prescription drugs, jumped from a 5th floor dormitory window and remains in critical condition. When a student's medications are stolen, this can have a severe detrimental effect on their overall health and well being," stated Mrs. Lorraine Yarde, CEO of Rx Safes, Inc. "Whether at home or at school, medications need to be locked up in order to prevent theft and unlawful and damaging ingestion by a non authorized user," continued Mrs. Yarde.

The company will be launching its college campus program through several national distributors that provide dorm safety and security products through university bookstores. The company also intends on securing national distribution through retailers who focus on back to school and campus living such as Bed Bath & Beyond, Staples and online retailer Amazon.com, where the product is currently available. As the fall semester approaches, Rx Safes will be offering steep discounted wholesale programs as part of its "back to school" initiative for college kids to get these safes into the dorm rooms before theft and serious injury can occur. Colleges do not supply safes for their students. It's the responsibility of the student, and their parents, to safeguard their valuables and medications while living at school.
