Ryder Names 2006 "Drivers of the Year"

Three Honorees Combine for Nearly Ten Million Injury-Free Miles

MIAMI, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 12, 2007 -- Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a global leader in transportation and supply chain management solutions, presented its annual "Driver of the Year" awards to three professionals who, combined, have driven nearly ten million injury-free miles and have more than 106 years of professional driving experience.

One of the Company's most prestigious recognition programs, the "Driver of the Year" award honors drivers who have demonstrated exemplary safety performance, customer service and citizenship throughout their careers. The top awards this year were presented to two drivers employed by Ryder and a driver employed by one of Ryder's Fleet Management Solutions customers. Each recipient received a five-day cruise to the Bahamas and Key West with a guest, a trophy, a specially designed ring and watch, and will be inducted into the Ryder "Driver Hall of Fame."

Lloyd "Robley" Moreau was named 2006 Driver of the Year for Ryder's U.S. Supply Chain Solutions Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Industries business segment. Mr. Moreau has been a Ryder employee for 22 years and serves General Motors Service and Parts Operations. During his 35-year career as a professional driver, Mr. Moreau has logged more than 3.2 million collision- and injury-free miles. In addition to his outstanding safety performance, Mr. Moreau also serves as a driver trainer.

Gary Cockrell was named 2006 Driver of the Year for Ryder's U.S. Supply Chain Solutions High Tech and Consumer Industries. Mr. Cockrell has been a professional driver with Ryder for more than 26 years and is a proud member of the team that serves Square D, a brand of Schneider Electric. Throughout his 31-year career, Mr. Cockrell has driven 2.9 million collision- and injury-free miles.

Carey Young was named Ryder's Fleet Management Solutions 2006 Driver of the Year. Mr. Young is a professional driver for Ryder customer RHC Logistics Corporation where he has logged more than 3.8 million accident- and injury-free miles during his 40 years of service.

The three drivers, accompanied by family members and business associates, were honored at a recent luncheon banquet held in their honor near Ryder's headquarters in Miami. Ryder Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Greg Swienton, accompanied by key Ryder executives and the drivers' local managers, was on hand to personally congratulate the honorees.
