Ryla Teleservices, Inc. Employees Represented by Nichols Kaster, PLLP File Action to Recover Unpaid Overtime Wages

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - January 25, 2011) - On January 21, 2011, former Ryla Teleservices, Inc. ("Ryla") call center employees Terri Slaughter-Cabbell, Lana Hooks and Anita Hall (collectively "Plaintiffs") filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, on behalf of themselves and others similarly situated, to recover unpaid overtime wages under the Fair Labor Standards Act. The Plaintiffs worked as customer services representatives in Ryla's Kennesaw, Georgia call center. They claim in their complaint that Ryla required them to perform uncompensated work before and after their shifts. That work included booting-up computers, initializing software programs, setting up "call backs," and reviewing work related emails and instant messages. The Plaintiffs claim that Ryla used a time-tracking system that did not compensate them for this pre and post shift work.

Plaintiffs are represented by Nichols Kaster, PLLP, which has offices in Minneapolis and San Francisco. Nichols Kaster, PLLP attorney David Schlesinger stated, "Too often call center employees are only paid for time spent on the phone. However, when call center employees are required to do work to prepare for or after taking calls, the law requires that additional work to be compensated. Nichols Kaster filed this case because the Plaintiffs believe they were not compensated for additional work."

The case is entitled Slaughter-Cabbell et al. v. Ryla Teleservices, Inc., Civ. No. 1:11-cv-00202-WSD (N.D. GA).
