S. Miller Williams Joins eLEC's Board of Directors

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 17, 2007 -- eLEC Communications Corp. (OTCBB: ELEC) today announced that S. Miller Williams has joined its board of directors. Mr. Williams is an experienced telecom executive and is currently serving on the board of directors of an energy services company, Willbros Group, Inc., which trades on the New York Stock Exchange.

Mr. Williams has previously served as the Executive Vice President of Strategic Development of Vartec Telecom, an international consumer telecommunications company, and as the Executive Chairman of the Board of PowerTel, Inc., a public company that provided telecommunication services in Australia. He also served as the Senior Vice President Corporate Development and General Manager International of Williams Communications Group.

"Miller is a tremendous addition to our board," commented eLEC's CEO, Paul Riss. "His corporate development experience is very important to us, and I deeply appreciate his willingness to serve and his in-depth knowledge of acquisitions. I believe his mergers and acquisitions experience will be particularly important to us, as we are currently evaluating acquisitions of facilities-based telecom entities that can route their existing traffic to our low-cost IP telephony network. As part of our plan to re-purpose our company to leverage our IP technology, we are looking to acquire facilities-based carriers that process a significant number of minutes each month. We have already received verbal acceptance of offers to purchase two profitable telecom entities that are not fully utilizing the power and cost efficiencies of the Internet. We hope to sign letters of intent soon, and establish the acquired companies as customers of our IP telephony subsidiary, VoX Communications."

Miller Williams noted, "I am very familiar with the technology and progress that VoX has made in leveraging the Internet to produce a high-quality and low-cost IP telephony network. I believe that all telecom will eventually be an extension of the Internet, and that VoX has significant intellectual property to help it become a key player in this industry. I have been an eLEC shareholder for almost a year now, and I look forward to representing all shareholders and working to make this company successful."

On a related matter, Mr. Riss added, "The divestiture of our traditional fixed-line reseller business continues to move forward. The buyer has notified us that he has now received all public service commission approvals that he was seeking and that the final written order is scheduled to be issued in three weeks. In addition, the buyer has notified us that shortly thereafter, it plans to complete the purchase of New Rochelle Telephone and Telecarrier Services."
