S3 Group Showcases Multi-Device Automated Testing at Mobile World Congress

BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwire - Feb 27, 2012) - (Mobile World Congress), Hall 1, Stand 1F17 -- S3 Group, a global enabler of high quality digital TV Content Delivery Platforms, today announced its line-up of multi-device demonstrations at Mobile World Congress, further emphasizing the company's proven leadership in systems integration and automated testing.

The StormTest® Development Center testing solution, recently chosen by Swisscom and Centum Solutions, will be on display, illustrating the vital need for automation in today's growing multi-room, multi-device consumer TV viewing environment.

Consumers are relying on an increased range of both fixed and mobile devices to consume TV services and these devices reside at the end of an increasingly complex content delivery chain that includes content management systems, billing systems and a range of other BSS and OSS elements. Developing, validating and maintaining this end-to-end platform and meeting viewers' expectation for faultless TV performance is driving interest in S3 Group's solutions.

"At S3 Group we realize that digital TV is playing an increasingly important role in the mobile industry. Consumers want their chosen content anywhere, at anytime and on any device. In order for operators to keep pace, they need to look to automated testing," said John Maguire, Director of Product Strategy, TV Technology, S3 Group. "Our experience has shown us that not only does this lead to greater consumer satisfaction and quality of experience, but it can save the operator up to 80 percent of cost when compared to manual testing. This alone validates the need to make automated testing an essential component of any platform strategy. And this is exactly why we're here at Mobile World Congress."

At MWC, S3 Group will be showing:

  • How StormTest Development Center enables the testing of applications and content delivered to portable devices, such as Apple iPads, within the connected home environment. With this support, operators can implement effective automated cross-platform testing solutions, ensuring the consistent delivery of content to multiple fixed and mobile devices.
  • How StormTest Development Center enables a smooth transition from manual to automated testing. S3 Group will show how the solution can be used to test complex gateway-driven connected home environments for content delivery onto multiple devices such as STBs, tablets, smartphones, PCs and more. StormTest Development Center can be used to test each of the devices individually and it can also test the impact they may have on each other when used in parallel.

StormTest Development Center has been chosen by more than 30 of the world's leading digital TV operators, broadcasters and vendors including BBC, Swisscom, Mediaset and Irdeto.
