S3 Group Unveils Exclusive Partnership in North America With First US StormTest™ Decision Line Customer

Global After-Market Service Provider Teleplan Teams With S3 Group, Establishing a Significant Strategic Alliance

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS--(Marketwire - Sep 9, 2011) - IBC2011 Hall 3, Stand 3.B23 -- S3 Group, a global enabler of the highest quality digital TV content delivery platforms, today announced that it has entered an exclusive reseller partnership with Teleplan in North America. This agreement is the first of its kind for the recently announced StormTest Decision Line portfolio. Teleplan, one of the leading global providers of after-market services for the computer, communications and consumer electronics industries, will also distribute S3 Group's technology to its customers in other parts of the world.

"We went looking for a world-class automated test system to augment our quality repair process. Since S3 Group led this field in the digital TV space, they were a natural choice for us to work with," said Gotthard Haug, CEO of Teleplan. "Significantly, our two companies share the same philosophy: We forge a true partnership with our customers and build processes that look after devices throughout the entire lifecycle. Operators have high expectations for the care their devices receive from us, and quality testing is a key part of our strategy. We are now able to do this very effectively, thanks to S3 Group and its StormTest Decision Line."

StormTest Decision Line is a portfolio of solutions designed to quickly and accurately perform automated tests to ensure that new or refurbished devices are ready for subscriber deployment. This recently announced product joins the industry-proven StormTest Development Center, which has been deployed by more than 20 operators around the world.

Key attributes and capabilities of StormTest Decision Line include:

  • Offers real-time, intelligent automated decisions based upon testing results, ensuring that those correctly functioning devices are deployed and those that are not functioning are efficiently repaired before being sent into the field
  • Increases cost-effectiveness of testing as multiple devices can be tested simultaneously
  • Ensures a flexible, programmable and future-proof automated testing platform
  • Delivers a proven track record of lowering the number of no-fault-found devices that are sent back into the field
  • Performs reliable and robust audio and video testing across multiple devices

"Teleplan has a global reputation for delivering top-notch after-market services to the digital TV community. As our StormTest product line continues to support the delivery of reliable content delivery platforms, we determined a strategic partnership such as this one was imperative," said Ian Harris, Director of Product Management, S3 Group. "The US market, in particular, is rolling out more complex devices in order to support a variety of interactive applications across different operator platforms, increasing the need for proven testing solutions. This exclusive agreement will enable operators to ensure quality throughout the device lifecycle."
