Safeguard See Surge in Modified Motorhomes

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Nov. 23, 2010) - The nation's love for caravans and motorhomes is still going strong, as Safeguard has reported an increase in customers insuring modified motorhomes, further continuing the motorhomes revival.

An online survey of 1200 customers conducted by Safeguard, one of the UK's leading caravan and motorhome insurance providers, discovered that 74% of customers are now seeking modern and stylish accommodation, and a further 42% are requiring insurance for extra add ons such as plasma screen TVs, bars and expensive alloys.

The results of the survey seem to indicate that gone are the days of floral prints and basic fittings, as caravanners update their second homes with unique modifications.

The news comes as stylish models of caravans and motorhomes were revealed at the International Caravan and Motorhome Show 2010, in Birmingham last month.

Rita Sadler, Safeguard manager said: "It's great to see the caravan community adapting to contemporary caravans, but when buying, they need to be aware that they're obliged to disclose any add ons, as it is illegal not to do so."

She added, "When buying an expensive caravan, it's imperative that caravanners seek the best caravan insurance deal possible, one that maximises cover as modern caravans are more attractive to thieves."
