Safeguard Sees Surge in Quotes for Retro Models

MANCHESTER, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - May 16, 2010) - With holiday nostalgia sweeping across the nation, Safeguard UK, one of the UK's leading providers of caravan and motorhome insurance, has revealed that more and more Brits are opting for the Great British holiday and choosing retro-style camper vans for their summer trips.

According to recent statistics there are 55,000 more custom-campers out there than this time last year, with the effect attributed to the fact that many UK holidaymakers are feeling rejuvenated by the new trend of 'glamping'.

This form of motorhoming is more boutique than back to basics, and is emerging as the new, socially acceptable face of caravanning for younger generations.

Despite the surge in retro models, Safeguard has assured its caravan insurance customers that mainstream caravanning and motorhoming is also here to stay with statistics from the National Caravan Council revealing a 25% rise in bookings from the previous year.

Rita Sadler, Safeguard manager, said: "We've seen a sharp increase in the number of motorhome insurance enquiries for retro camper vans as consumers seek a stylish alternative to expensive hotels and holiday cottages. The retro holiday trend is great for the UK travel industry, adding to the boom of recent years".

Safeguard UK offers annual caravan insurance, which provides cover for trips in the UK and mainland Europe (policy terms and conditions apply).
