Marketing Whiz Credited With Developing & Executing Microsoft's Highly Acclaimed Branding Strategy, Including the Naming & Global Launch of Windows, Will Help Develop & Execute Online Classifieds Company's Rollout Plan

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - May 11, 2011) - SafeList Ventures, Inc., parent company of San Diego-based online classifieds website,, announces the appointment of former Microsoft Corp. Vice President of Corporate Communications, Rowland Hanson, to its Advisory Board.

Hanson is recognized for convincing Bill Gates to launch Microsoft's flagship product, originally called Interface Manager, under the name of Windows™. The Windows™ software went on to dominate the computer industry and became the graphical user interface of more than 90% of all personal computers sold worldwide.

"I'm thrilled to welcome a marketing legend of Rowland's pedigree to our company's Advisory Board," said Karim Pirani, founder and CEO of SafeList. "As we start to rollout outside our San Diego home base and on to other cities nationwide, Rowland's marketing insights and acumen will be of tremendous help to us."

"I'm delighted to join's Advisory Board," said Hanson, who is the President and CEO of The HMC Company, a business strategy and consulting firm. "For a number of years, I have been concerned about the inherent dangers plaguing the Internet and am especially passionate about working to secure the safety and security of our young children as they navigate the web. Precisely for this reason, I'm passionate about helping provide the solution(s) that should keep our children and their families safe from online predators."

Hanson will collaborate with's management team on branding and marketing strategies. Also, Hanson's consulting firm will assist the company in building partnerships with other technology companies and quickly bring to market the solutions that offers.

"Unlike commerce facilitated by websites like eBay and Amazon where the chance of a physical meeting between the buyer and the seller is almost zero, transactions facilitated by a classifieds marketplace makes it almost mandatory for the two parties to meet face-to-face," said Pirani. "Therefore the need for due diligence is more critical, not less."
