Safer trails for Laurentides snowmobilers

Financial assistance from the Government of Canada will help Club Auto-Neige Amico acquire state-of-the-art equipment

NOTRE-DAME-DU-LAUS, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Dec. 17, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Tourism provides an excellent opportunity for economic development in Canada. The Government of Canada's investment in tourism projects reflects its willingness to support actions that generate substantial economic benefits in the Laurentides region.

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, David Graham, Member of Parliament for Laurentides-Labelle, announced that $151,353 has been granted to Club Auto-Neige Amico under the Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP).

Created in 1969, the club is a non-profit organization that is responsible for the safety and maintenance of the trails. The non-repayable contribution will enable the organization to acquire a new groomer and grading equipment, which will contribute to the sustainability of the trails and the safety of snowmobilers.

"Organizations such as Club Auto-Neige Amico play a crucial role in developing the tourism industry and the economy in our region. Today's announcement will create positive and direct benefits for the local community and businesses, confirming the Hautes-Laurentides as a prime place to play and visit."

David Graham, Member of Parliament for Laurentides-Labelle

"The Government of Canada is determined to invest in projects that stimulate the region's economy by showcasing tourism projects like that of Club Auto-Neige Amico. The Government of Canada's contribution will enable the organization to enrich the visitor experience and give a greater number of people a chance to explore the Laurentides region."

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED

"Club Auto-Neige Amico wants to thank its members for their support, which is very important and central to the club's survival. We also want to thank the Government of Canada and our other partners for their financial assistance, which has enabled us to purchase our new groomer."

Maurice Thauvette, President of Club Auto-Neige Amico
