Sage Software's Taylor Macdonald Named Best Sales Executive by 2005 American Business Awards

Macdonald Honored for Innovative Advocacy and Continued Focus on the Channel

ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 8, 2005 -- Sage Software announced today that its chief channel executive, Taylor Macdonald, has been honored as "Best Sales Executive" at the third annual American Business Awards. The American Business Awards are the first national, all-encompassing business awards program honoring great performances in the workplace. The awards are nicknamed the Stevie's for the Greek word "crowned" and have been recognized by the New York Post(1) as "the business world's own Oscars." Macdonald's achievement was marked with the presentation of a Stevie at a reception earlier this week in New York.

Macdonald received the award based on the strong impact and clear investments Sage Software, under his direction, has made in channel programs to help the company's business partners succeed. Macdonald's first-hand experience as a successful business partner has guided his strategies for supporting the Sage Software partner network. Prior to joining Sage Software, Macdonald was founder of Macdonald Consulting Group, Sage Software's top business partner for five years.

Among the innovative programs Macdonald created and implemented in the past year was Partners for Growth, designed to help business partners in one of the most challenging areas required to accelerate business: finding, hiring, and training effective sales people. Macdonald's team launched the Partners for Growth program with a $1 million investment in sales training, hiring assistance, direct financial support and marketing assistance programs to business partners. Designed to fuel internal growth in the company's 6,000+ strong partner channel, the program was an overwhelming success, with partner applications far exceeding the spots available. Each of the 100 partners accepted into the program received $10,000 towards finding and training a new member of its sales force. Macdonald's hands-on approach and consistent communication with Sage business partners have provided him with the opportunity to develop a sustainable channel business, which accounts for nearly 50% of all Sage Software revenues.

Winners of the American Business Awards were announced during an awards ceremony and reception on Monday, June 6, 2005 at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. The ceremonies were also videocast on the Internet and broadcast on radio. Donald J. Trump received the first Lifetime Achievement Award that evening. More than 1,200 nominations from companies of all sizes and virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories, including Best Overall Company, Best Executive, Best New Product or Service and Best Support Staffer.
