Sage Supports National Health Center Week for 5th Consecutive Year

Employees Volunteer at Community Health Centers Across the United States

TAMPA, FL--(Marketwire - Aug 8, 2011) - Sage today announced that for the fifth consecutive year, it is officially supporting National Health Center Week (August 7 - 13, 2011) by offering volunteer assistance at community health centers across the country during the week through its ProjectSERVS (Sage Employees Reaching out with Volunteer Service), as well as making financial contributions to CHC causes.

National Health Center Week is an annual celebration designed to raise awareness about the valuable work that community health centers do. During this week, health centers across the country host events to educate people on healthcare and the types of services provided by the centers. Many events feature free health screenings, food and refreshments, prominent speakers and more.

"This is one week where CHCs are really highlighted for the work they do for the members of the communities in which they serve," said Beth Wrobel, CEO of HealthLinc, Inc., a community health center. "Many people don't know there is help out there. Last year during national CHC week, we added 1,000 new patients during the month, meaning that's 1,000 more people served than otherwise would have been without this effort.

"The partnership we have with our software vendor, Sage, helps make this possible," said Wrobel. "We are partners serving those uninsured and underinsured in Indiana. That's the difference with Sage; that makes Sage different."

Sage Healthcare Division, one of the largest software providers in the ambulatory healthcare market, serving more than 400,000 healthcare professionals in the United States, has supported the event for five consecutive years. Sage products are used by more than one in four of all CHCs in the United States.

This year, Sage employees are volunteering their time at several health centers including:

  • North County Health Services of San Marcos, California
  • HealthLinc, Inc., of Valparaiso, Indiana
  • New Horizons of Greenville, South Carolina
  • Staywell Health Center of Waterbury, Connecticut
  • Family Health Centers of Baltimore, Maryland

"Sage wants to further the mission of improved patient outcomes and quality of care in the United States and our continued, traditional involvement with National Association of Community Health Centers' National Health Center Week proves our commitment to this goal," said Betty Otter-Nickerson, president of Sage Healthcare Division. "For five years we have officially recognized how important CHCs are to Sage and the communities they serve and we will continue to salute each of them for the important role they play in our healthcare system."

According the National Association of Community Health Centers, the second week of August is dedicated to recognizing the contributions of CHCs, which provide access to affordable, high-quality, cost-effective healthcare to medically vulnerable and underserved people in the U.S. CHCs in the U.S. serve more than 20 million people in 7,500 communities in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam.

Sage is the leading provider of information technology to the CHC and Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) market. Sage maintains a strong commitment to this segment by continuing to develop products that address its unique needs.
