Sahaja Meditation Introductory Public Program in Manhattan

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - May 1, 2011) - Sahaja Meditation, a not-for-profit offering free spiritual meditation guidance in more than 75 countries worldwide is hosting a meditation program for the public in Manhattan, New York in memory of its Founder Her Holiness Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, a significant spiritual figure and esteemed humanitarian, who passed in Genoa, Italy, on February 23, 2011.

The program will be held at New York Society for Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th Street at Central Park West on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 7 pm.

All across the globe, people are seeking new sources of energy, yet within each of us lies the most transformative energy of all. It's called Inner Energy. Sahaja Meditation is a simple technique that lets you tap into that energy and harness its power to become better balanced and better connected to yourself -- emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Sahaja Meditation can help you manage stress, master your emotions and find solutions to your problems. You'll enjoy better health, better focus, and a deeper understanding of the universe and your place in it. Sahaja Meditation increases self-awareness, intuition and introspectiveness, which improves your communication skills and increases compassion and empathy for others.

Sahaja Meditation is different from other forms of meditation in its capacity to connect you to your own subtle energy system and influence that inner energy to improve every aspect of yourself. Sahaja Meditation techniques awaken this powerful energy, nourishing and energizing the energy centers (chakras) within your body. A few minutes of your life may be all it takes to connect to your inner energy and light the path to lifelong transformation.

For more than 40 years, Sahaja Meditation has been practiced by thousands of people of all ages, cultures and religious beliefs across the globe. While meditation is typically thought of as an adult endeavor, Sahaja Meditation centers welcome "family practice."

Sahaja Meditation offers free classes all across the country at its centers, community centers, libraries, schools, and more. They have partnered with like minded organizations to mutually enhance capacity to serve the community. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization has partnered with Sahaja Meditation USA to help translate the UNESCO mission and ideals into programs that will help raise a new generation of Peacemakers.

Sahaja Meditation is also the preferred meditation partner for HealthCorps, a proactive health movement founded by heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz. Sahaja Meditation has had a powerful impact on school children in terms of both physical health and mental resilience. In fact, research so far suggests that around 70% of these students receive significant, direct benefits from the simple practice of Sahaja Meditation.

The introductory program at Manhattan is open to all and will be followed by a series of free meditation classes in New York city for several weeks into this summer.
