Sail Capital Partners in Expansion Mode With New Partner Chris Rhoades and Three Other Additions to the Team

IRVINE, CA and NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - April 5, 2011) -  SAIL Capital Partners has announced that Chris Rhoades, an Entrepreneur and Executive with extensive experience in institutional debt and equity markets and corporate finance, has joined their team as Partner, residing in the firm's Orange County, CA office. SAIL has also hired three new employees, Alyssa Lorenz as Associate and Lisa Caughern as Administrative Assistant in the firm's Irvine office, and Greg Kivetz as Financial Analyst in the firm's New York office. SAIL, a leading cleantech investment firm investing in the areas of energy, water and green innovation, welcomes Rhoades and the three new team members as highly value-added additions to their West and East Coast teams.

Chris Rhoades' diverse background includes serving as CEO of a building materials company. While leading the company, he upgraded the talent throughout the organization, installed their first outside sales force, gained exclusive territorial rights to carry many green products, installed a solar system to power the headquarters, and implemented new logistics and delivery systems all aimed at increasing customer satisfaction and franchise value. He led the negotiation, acquisition, financing, and integration of several corporate transactions for the building materials company as CEO, culminating in a successful strategic exit of the company in early 2011. Prior to running the building materials company, Rhoades worked for Merrill Lynch as Managing Director and producing manager in charge of the Institutional International Equity Division for the Western Region of the U.S., raising billions of dollars for hundreds of corporate clients. His extensive client list included large mutual funds, hedge funds, and institutional investors such as Janus, Capital Guardian, Franklin Funds, Brandes, Citadel, and Wells Fargo; many whose investment strategy included purchasing equity securities of companies located in Europe. During his 11-year career with Merrill he traveled extensively throughout Europe and South Africa in an effort to find the companies with the best investment potential for his institutional client base. In his role as Managing Director, Rhoades also hired and molded a team that quadrupled revenues and maintained the number one market share with the Western U.S. Institutional client base throughout his tenure.

Walter Schindler, Managing Partner of SAIL Capital Partners, commented, "We believe that Chris Rhoades is an important addition to our team. His experience with, and relationships in, institutional debt and equity markets and corporate finance are a valuable asset." He added, "The addition of Alyssa Lorenz, Greg Kivetz and Lisa Caughern strengthens our ability to execute and deliver results and is evidence of SAIL's continued growth and development."

Most recently, Lorenz was a project coordinator and associate with UBS Financial Services, a leading institutional consulting team that manages $1.7 billion in client assets, gaining her valuable experience in assessing investment strategies, selecting wealth managers, and understanding the needs of investors. While in this role, she prepared responses to RFPs from potential clients, which resulted in $383 million in new assets for the team. Kivetz' background is in financial modeling, corporate accounting, asset budgeting and forecasting. Before joining SAIL he was a financial, transaction and budget analyst at Newmark Knight Frank where he oversaw and executed cost projections, acted as client liaison and managed the budget for a 22 million square foot portfolio. He also executed strategic projects, and maintained and tracked potential clients in the company's pipeline. Caughern is a magna cum laude graduate of Chapman University and holds a BA and MA in Psychology.

"I believe that timing is everything," said Chris Rhoades, "I was at a cross roads having just completed an exit of my company and SAIL was looking to bring in someone that had experience in scaling operating companies as CEO, as well as in institutional leadership roles for a large global investment bank, to complement their proven team. I am honored and ecstatic to be a part of their world class team."

SAIL Capital Partners, formerly known as SAIL Venture Partners, recently changed their name to better reflect the wider breadth of financial investing the firm now offers, including equity and convertible debt capital for growth and later stage cleantech companies.
