Saint Charles City-County Library District Adds Downloadable Audio Books

Listen to Great Titles While Exercising, Relaxing, or on the Go

ST. PETERS, MO--(Marketwire - March 3, 2008) - Listen up! The St. Charles City-County Library District now offers free downloadable audio books. SCCCLD customers can access a diverse collection of nearly 1,000 fiction and non-fiction titles. To view the collection, visit www.youranswerplace.org and click on the 'Download Audio Books' icon.

To get started, first download the free software, the OverDrive Media Console. Using a valid SCCCLD library card, customers can check out and download the selection to a home PC. After downloading the books, customers can listen on their computer, transfer to supported portable devices, such as MP3 players, and burn many titles to CD.

SCCCLD customers can find thrillers, romance, kids and teen titles, and much more in the growing collection of popular and classic selections. Look for best-selling novels like "The Appeal" by John Grisham or Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight". Many notable authors are also included, such as James Patterson, Nora Roberts, and Tom Brokaw.

"Many of our library customers use our books on CD collection as they commute, travel, exercise, or relax," states Betty Murr, Deputy Director. "With downloadable audio books, they don't need to drive to a branch to check out a book on CD, they can access the collection anytime, anywhere."

Customers can check out up to five titles at a time. At the end of the 14 day loan period, the audio books automatically expire and return to the collection. The digital titles have no late fees or damage costs. The service and software is free, easy-to-use, and available 24/7.

The technology and content is provided by OverDrive, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio. To access the digital collection, visit the library homepage www.youranswerplace.org and click the 'Download Audio Books' icon.
