SAINTE-ANNE-DES-MONTS, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 14, 2016) -

The Prix d'Excellence is the Harbour Authority Recognition Program's most prestigious award, honouring teams and individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the success of the Harbour Authority Program and the Small Craft Harbours Program of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

The fishing industry is an important part of the Canadian culture and economy. Our harbours are crucial to the fishing industry, therefore, it is essential that Canada's small craft harbours meet our commercial fishing industry's needs, while also supporting the broader interests of coastal communities. This award acknowledges individuals who have shown extraordinary dedication to the success of their harbours or who have significantly contributed to the Harbour Authority Program

The Government of Canada is pleased to recognize the leadership and dedication of Mr. Gaumond. For the last 15 years, the Harbour Authority and community in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts multipurpose harbour have been relying on his exceptional commitment and contribution. Mr. Gaumond's efforts have been recognized by the National Harbour Authority Committee and many other harbour authorities across the country.

More specifically, Mr. Gaumond instigated several harbour improvement projects, such as the construction of a work platform, the removal of floating wharves, and the construction of a pedestrian walkway.
