Sam Adcock to Serve on University of Pittsburgh Graduate School Board of Visitors

ARLINGTON, VA and PITTSBURGH, PA--(Marketwire - February 24, 2009) - The University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) has selected EADS North America's Senior Vice President of Government Relations, Sam Adcock, to serve on a newly-formed Board of Visitors. The charter of the 25-member board is to provide insight and guidance in the school's strategic planning process.

"Sam's vast expertise in foreign and domestic policy, coupled with his background on Capitol Hill in both government and private sector positions, will greatly benefit GSPIA's faculty, staff and students," said Dean John Keeler. "We are extremely grateful that accomplished alumni like Sam are giving back to their university."

Prior to joining EADS North America in 2000 when the company was formed, Adcock served in the Executive and Legislative Branches of the U.S. federal government, as well as senior executive leadership positions in both the aerospace and automotive industries.

Adcock served as the Director of Defense and Security Policy for the Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate, and served for more than five years as the Legislative Director for Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS). During his government career, he also served on the Defense Science Board and the Long Range Air Power Panel. Adcock has also held positions in the Department of the Navy's Shipbuilding directorate.

He earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh in 1987, and was subsequently selected for the Presidential Management Internship program the same year.

GSPIA's mission is to inspire graduates to improve public institutions, create higher quality of government and promote social responsibility throughout the world.
