San Diego Film Festival Names Craig Prater Executive VP, Strategic Partnerships

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - April 11, 2016) - San Diego Film Foundation Chair Dale Strack announced that Craig Prater has been named Executive VP, Strategic Partnerships.

"We are delighted to have Craig join the San Diego Film Festival team. His experience with festivals around the globe will undoubtedly help us achieve our goal of making the San Diego Film Festival a world class event for San Diegans as well as visitors to our city," said Strack.

According to Tonya Mantooth, Executive and Artistic Director of the San Diego Film Festival, "When we assumed the leadership of the San Diego Film Festival four years ago, we were excited about the potential. The exponential growth since then made it possible for us to recruit extraordinary talent like Craig to help us continue toward that vision."

Craig Prater began his international film festival career when he was asked to join the new Palm Springs International Film Festival by entertainer, Sonny Bono. During his tenure as Executive Director, he also co-founded the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films and the Film Noir Festival. Prater was then asked by the Royal Thai government to join their new Bangkok International Film Festival as Executive Director.

Prater also created the Festival of Festivals which opened at the launch of the Mary Pickford Theatre in Cathedral City and served as the Director/Producer of the Latino Film Festivals for the National Hispanic American Educational Foundation in Indio, California and Tampa, Florida and the Film Forecast which premiered in Sarasota, Florida. He worked with International film publicists Nadia Bronson and Thomas Castaneda on new film festival projects in Mexico.

Most recently, he served as the Director of the San Diego Jewish Film Festival.
