San Diego Laser Spa Offers Solutions to Uneven Skin Tones

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 18, 2016) - San Diego Laser Spa is a state-of-the-art medspa located in the UTC area of San Diego. Dr. Roy David the medical director of San Diego Laser Spa offers many of the latest technologies for dealing with skin tone issues. Uneven skin tones can look very unsightly, giving your skin a blotchy appearance, and at least temporarily may cause you to take some kind of action to blend together differing patches of skin color. Uneven skin tones are the result of either hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation, the first of which occurs when too much melanin is produced by the body, and the second when too little is being produced.

The reasons for an excess or deficiency of melanin are generally attributable to hormonal changes, damage from the sun, or from the side effects of medication or an illness. As with many health conditions, the best policy is one of prevention, but sometimes even conscientious prevention cannot guarantee you won't experience the embarrassment of uneven skin tone. In that case, a program of treatment can be undertaken to mitigate the effects.

Preventing uneven skin tone

One good way to prevent uneven skin tone is to protect yourself against damage from the sun by using a good sunscreen with a really high SPF factor. By drinking plenty of water, you'll keep your skin internally hydrated, and flush out toxins that might adversely affect the skin. A regular program of exercise also does wonders for the circulation, and when all of the body is supplied with fresh oxygen, healthy skin is just one of the beneficiaries.

Treatment of uneven skin tone

If prevention hasn't worked, or you weren't aware of prevention techniques, there are still some ways that uneven skin tones can be treated successfully, with little inconvenience to a person. These are minimally invasive treatments, which can be performed on an out-patient basis over several sessions.

  • Skin peels - chemical peels can be very effective treatments for uneven skin tone in the facial area, and involve a mixture of acerbic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, and citric acid. Acerbic acid contains healthy vitamin C, citric acid is loaded with antioxidants which help the facial skin, salicylic acid promotes the replacement of dead skin cells, and lactic acid encourages exfoliation and softening effects.
  • Medical micro dermabrasion (MMD) - the microdermabrasion process works by passing medical-grade crystals over your skin under high pressure, and has the effect of removing dead skin cells which cause the skin to look dull. The high-pressure treatment also encourages blood flow to the skin, promoting new cell growth and delivering a good supply of fresh oxygen.
  • Laser Resurfacing Treatment - The focus of Total FX laser resurfacing is on the superficial layers of the skin. Unlike a facelift type of procedure which focuses on removing droopy and saggy skin the FX Laser focuses on the superficial layers of the skin. Skin resurfacing will help improve wrinkles, acne scars, uneven pigmentation, sun spot and smooth out skin.
