SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 17, 2014) - The San Francisco Chronicle announced today that it has given its Style section a complete makeover, featuring a bolder visual design in a magazine-like format. It will have more coverage and commentary, greater focus on Bay Area trends and innovators, and more content exploring the local retail scene.
The section captures San Francisco's eclectic style while bringing together its disparate influences: tech and handmade, cyclist and socialite, the green and the luxe, and the cosmopolitan and nature loving.
"The new Style section captures the region's spirit of creativity and innovation through its fashion and lifestyle leaders and their creations, presented with a strong, modern point of view. We can't wait to share it with our readers," said Kitty Morgan, assistant managing editor for food, wine, home, garden and style.
The Style section includes a number of new features to showcase the energy and vibrancy of neighborhoods and the eclectic mix of high and low so prevalent in the Bay Area, including:
- Wish List: the one big item we're lusting after now;
- Agenda: a list of events, openings and parties that you won't want to miss in the upcoming week;
- Epicenter: the exploration of lifestyle trends that start here in the Bay Area, including relationship dynamics, design, cultural topics and new technologies;
- Guide Book: coverage and commentary on the retail scene -- new boutiques, craftspeople, store openings and neighborhoods to shop;
- Observed: a first-person essay from Bay Area writers on how we live here today;
- #SFStyle: a close-up of a real Bay Area stylemaker, shot in our studio.

The new Style section will appear in the Sunday edition of the San Francisco Chronicle on April 20, 2014.
