About Rock For Life

Rock For Life is an organization dedicated to suicide awareness and prevention through music. It was founded in 2012 by Rico Colley of Global Affront following the loss of two friends to suicide. Prior Rock For Life concerts held in 2013 and 2014, successfully drew public recognition and funds to support the critical work performed by San Francisco Suicide Prevention.

"I've lost two close friends to suicide in the last few years," stated Rico Colley of Global Affront. "It's time to do something about it. This is why we are so happy to partner with San Francisco Suicide Prevention for this event. SFSP provides critical services to support those in emotional distress. They have responded to over a million calls since they opened in 1962. Global Affront is proud to align with SFSP in their tireless effort to save lives."

"Rock For Life not only raises money for San Francisco Suicide Prevention, it also helps people understand the importance of mental health issues in the community," stated David Paisley, Deputy Director, San Francisco Suicide Prevention. "It is important that everyone knows there are hotlines, chat services, and clinics to get help when you or a loved one are feeling depressed and isolated."

About Global Affront

Global Affront was formed in 2009 in the San Francisco Bay Area by Eric Wellington and Rico Colley. They began by playing Nirvana, Sex Pistols and Green Day covers, but were inspired to write original material in response to the 2009 Oakland BART shooting and the riots and trial that followed. The band's song lyrics, while always based in solid punk angst, began to evolve and incorporate themes of social and political injustice. The band recorded and released their debut (self-titled) EP in 2011. In 2012, Colley and Wellington recruited Shane Hunt-Dussé as their bassist and the band recorded their second EP, "Another F#@*ing Global Affront EP." The EP was released during the finals of the 2012 San Francisco Battle of the Bands, where Global Affront beat out more than 100 bands to take first prize. In 2014, Global Affront released its debut full-length album, "It's All Downhill From Here." The band actively records and tours hitting world-famous spots including 924 Gilman in Berkeley, Whisky A Go-Go in Los Angeles, Sullivan Hall in New York City, and others. In 2013, Global Affront teamed up with San Francisco Suicide Prevention and instituted an annual benefit concert with all proceeds going to this important cause.
