SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - August 16, 2016) - The San Francisco Virtual Reality ( VR / 360 ) International Film Festival (known as SFVRIFF) is bringing together Virtual Reality VR / 360 filmmakers from across the globe to highlight their work November 19th and 20th, 2016 at SOMArts in San Francisco, California.
SFVRIFF is the brainchild of award-winning documentary filmmakers Kip Andersen and Keegan Kuhn (Cowspiracy), pioneers of the World's first ever VR / 360 theatrical screening of a synced VR 360 film (their self produced VR 360 thriller Parallaxed).
Inspired yet frustrated by VR events that seem to be more focused on the technology behind VR/360 video and gaming, Andersen and Kuhn wanted to create a festival where fellow filmmakers could have their work showcased for content, artistry and storytelling experienced in a theatrical communal setting.
Four different theater tents will showcase categories in narratives, documentaries, experimental, and animation, and an all-synced feature tent where attendees will experience the film together. Offering $5000 in prizes to winning filmmakers and boasting 1000+ attendees over the 2 day festival, SFVRIFF is the first of its kind in the VR world.
Attendees will be able to meet and hear from filmmakers and leaders in the VR/360 video world in the Beer and Wine tent and at the exclusive afterparty November 19th.
