San Jacinto College Selects Blueprint Systems to Streamline Requirements Gathering Process

Pasadena, Texas-Based Community College Relies on Blueprint Systems to Standardize and Accelerate Their Project Requirements Process

TORONTO--(Marketwire - October 16, 2008) - Blueprint Systems (www.blueprintsys.com), the leader in requirements solutions for software business analysts, today announced that San Jacinto College, a community college system based in Pasadena, Texas, and serving Southeast Harris County, has purchased Blueprint Requirements Center 2009 to standardize their project requirements definition, accelerate their software development process, and gain stakeholder acceptance for IT project requirements.

"Prior to purchasing Blueprint, our requirements gathering process was scattered across multiple departments and lacked a fundamental discipline that leads to unnecessary changes and project delays," said Suzanne DeBlanc, Director of Data Management at San Jacinto College. "Blueprint Requirements Center will vastly improve this onerous process by providing all stakeholders with a unified console that enables our team to not only capture project requirements but also accelerate the process so we can bring new projects to fruition."

San Jacinto College is a public community college based in Southeast Harris County, Texas, and serves half a dozen independent school districts across the county. The college's IT team had been struggling to define a standardize approach to documenting and validating project requirements and were often duplicating efforts by rewriting requirements for similar projects.

Upon deploying Blueprint Requirements Center, business analysts will be able to successfully standardize the elicitation and elaboration phases of requirements gathering, enabling them to effectively re-use modules from a centralized requirements repository, accelerate validation of the project, and consequently, reduce the amount of change and uncertainty in the later stages of a project. Later this year, San Jacinto plans to leverage Requirements Center to manage a significant upgrade to their internal ERP software system.

"The initial phases of the software development process are often the most critical yet overlooked facets of the IT project lifecycle," said Matthew Morgan, Chief Marketing Officer of Blueprint. "San Jacinto College is one of many organizations to benefit from a streamlined requirements gathering process and by using Blueprint Requirements Center, is driving a higher level of quality into the requirements definition process."
