San Jose Chiropractor Urges Car Accident Injury Victims to Seek Treatment

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 8, 2012) - Dr. Jennifer Forster, the chiropractor who runs Insight Chiropractic clinic in San Jose, advises car accident injury victims to get evaluated as soon as possible after an accident, even if it seemed to be a minor fender bender. According to Dr. Forster, even low-speed auto accidents can cause serious injuries such as whiplash. She explains that soft tissue injuries like this may not manifest symptoms of pain until hours, days or even weeks later. She stresses that prompt evaluation of car accident victims for any of these issues can help prevent painful conditions from appearing or worsening over time.

The San Jose chiropractor says, "Low-speed auto accidents are problematic. Many people have a little fender bender, and if they're not in pain right then, they don't think they've sustained a car accident injury. But it doesn't take much to jolt the neck out of place. It's a delicate network of vertebrae and soft tissues that undergoes serious trauma when the head and body are forced into different directions, even at just 5 mph. It may not hurt immediately, but usually, these people start experiencing headaches and migraines, neck pain, back pain and difficulty concentrating a few days later and wonder what the problem is. That's why I call whiplash the creeping terror of car accidents."

Dr. Forster says that whiplash is just one of the many car accident injuries she sees in her office. She also treats a number of extremity injuries and car-accident related back pain cases that emergency room doctors were unable to treat due to strict time constraints. Forster says that emergency room doctors have to run triage to treat those with life-threatening injuries first, while sending other people with less severe injuries home with some painkillers and maybe a brace. The problems she often sees come from this group of people. She explains that many of them continue to suffer long after the accident and frequently become dependent upon painkillers to deal with the constant pain.

Dr. Forster says that she has been able to help many people through a combination of chiropractic spinal and musculoskeletal adjustments using active release (ART) massage and rehabilitation. She explains that realigning the bones that have been pulled out of place by soft tissue injuries resulting from car accidents often provides relief. According to Forster, when vertebrae are out of place, whether in the neck or lower down the spine, this can pinch nerves. The adjustments are designed, she says, to un-pinch the nerves. Forster explains that each patient who comes in undergoes a thorough exam so that they can determine where the problems lie before any adjustments are made.

Forster continues, "We also provide massage therapy, corrective exercises and nutritional counseling, all of which help these painful injuries heal from the inside. We look at the whole patient, not just the injury, with the goal of helping them feel totally better." Dr. Forster's website is located at
