San Jose Hosts Solar Tour to Help Residents Cut Energy Costs & Create a Bright Green Future

Join the World's Largest Grassroots Solar Event This Saturday; This Is the Last Chance to See Some of the Latest Technology Developments in the Solar Industry; the Showcase Will Be Open on Saturday, October 1, From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Guided Tours Will Be Given at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., and 2 p.m.

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 30, 2011) - The City of San José is hosting a solar home tour on October 1, 2011 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. to introduce residents to the products their solar savvy friends and neighbors are using to reduce their monthly energy bills. Tour participants will learn about available incentives, different types of solar technologies on the market today and how much money they can save. This effort is part of the non-profit American Solar Energy Society (ASES) National Solar Tour, the world's largest grassroots solar event. Last year's National Solar Tour attracted more than 150,000 people in 49 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. As one of the 25 designated Solar America Cities, the City of San José is partnering with several organizations to host this year's tour including: the U.S. Department of Energy, the ASES, local solar companies including Clean Solar, REC Solar, RPS Solar, SunWize and San José residents.

As an added feature, the San José Green Vision Clean Energy Showcase will be available for free tours. Located across the street from San José City Hall, 200 E. Santa Clara Street between 4th and 5th Street the Showcase is an exciting hands-on demonstration of solar technologies to help educate, inform and enable the community to go solar and save money.
