San Jose Welcomes 16 Meeting Planners for Grand Prix Weekend

SAN JOSE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 21, 2006 -- The San Jose Convention & Visitors Bureau hosted a Familiarization Trip (FAM) for 16 national meeting planners at the city's second annual Taylor Woodrow Grand Prix, July 28-30, 2006.

Meeting planners from all over the nation attended the San Jose Grand Prix, a streetcar race sponsored by Champcar.

Hotel Valencia, located at shopping luxury Santana Row, roomed the meeting planners for the four-day trip. The event, which included 11 members of our sales team, began with a kick off tour and lunch at the Saratoga Mountain Winery, followed by an international food progressive dinner touring Dolce Hayes Mansion.

Friday included a breakfast and tour of the Marriott Hotel in Downtown San Jose. Afternoon activities led the planners to pre-qualifier races at the downtown Grand Prix. The evening ended with cocktails at Hotel Valencia, and dinner in the luxurious hotel courtyard.

Saturday was spent viewing the races, with cocktails at Hilton San Jose preceded by hors d'oeuvres and swimming at the Fairmont Hotel. Sunday concluded with the meeting planners joining 50,000+ fans for the San Jose Grand Prix final race downtown.
