SanDiego.com Names New CEO

Industry Veteran Ron Donoho Elevated to Chief Editorial Officer

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - November 8, 2010) -  Ron Donoho, former executive editor of San Diego Magazine, is the new chief editorial officer of SanDiego.com.

A San Diego journalist for more than 15 years, Donoho has won more than 40 individual writing awards from the San Diego Press Club and Society of Professional Journalists. In 2010, under Donoho, SanDiego.com won 18 San Diego Press Club awards, including Best General Interest Website. He also won a Best of Show writing award in an all-media competition to predict the future of the news industry in San Diego.

Over the course of his 22-year writing career, Donoho has freelanced articles in more than two-dozen regional and national publications, including Men's Health, Men's Journal, Maxim, Glamour and The Christian Science Monitor.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Donoho began his journalism career as a sports reporter for several Maryland dailies. Covering the Baltimore Orioles, he recalls being yelled at by Cal Ripken Sr. on his first trip to the Orioles clubhouse, for entering the players-only lounge. A journalism graduate of Loyola College of Baltimore, he moved to San Diego in 1995 after working for three years as a magazine writer in New York City.

In 2009, Donoho started his own hyper-local Website, sandiegoDTOWN.com, which covered the downtown area. He began freelancing for SanDiego.com and eventually the company acquired his site and brought him on as the full-time editor in chief, a position he held until this week.

Also promoted at SanDiego.com from national sales representative to vice president of business development is Casey Earle. Prior to his arrival at SanDiego.com, Earle spent seven years in the print media industry, including the North County Times and San Diego Magazine.

According to Donoho, the company is in an expansion mode and recently hired a new director of operations and a new director of production. Sales representatives are currently being recruited.

From business and entertainment communities to neighborhood-specific updates and event coverage, SanDiego.com connects audiences to the 8th largest city in the United States. Founded in 1994, SanDiego.com evolved from a destination-focused travelers' portal to a trusted online news source for locals and visitors alike.
