FORT WORTH, TX--(Marketwire - Nov 14, 2012) - Sandlot Solutions, a leading healthcare information technology company, will participate in a webinar to unveil the final results of eHealth Initiative's 2012 Annual Survey of Health Information Exchange Initiatives. The webinar, which will take place on Thursday, November 15, from 2 - 3:30 p.m. EST, will also feature interpretation and analysis of the results by industry stakeholders, including Sandlot Solutions.
For 2012, eHealth Initiative (eHI) chose several key areas of focus: organization/governance; maturity and scope of exchange; involvement with other policy programs; and financing. Of approximately 342 Health Information Exchange (HIE) initiatives in the U.S that were solicited; 161 participated by completing the survey in its entirety.
High-level findings released by eHI in advance of the webinar include:
- A substantial number of initiatives are supporting health reform efforts, such as accountable care organizations.
- Competition may be impacting participation.
- Sustainability and privacy remain the top challenge for groups.
- Membership fees and federal funding are primary revenue sources.
- HITECH served as a catalyst for exchange activity and assisted with sustainability challenges.
- Most exchange initiatives expect to remain financially sustainable after government funding ends.
- HIEs continue to incorporate Direct into their services.
"As an industry, it is critical to keep a pulse on the advances, challenges and outcomes of health information exchange as it evolves, and we are pleased to partner with eHealth Initiative to share key insights with other stakeholders," said Paul Steinichen, Vice President of Solutions Engineering, Sandlot Solutions. "We are always seeking new intelligence that helps us refine our technology and better facilitate evidence-based care, higher-quality outcomes, more timely care and a better healthcare experience overall."
