Sands & Associates Partners With Four Trustee Firms Across Canada to Kick off Financial Literacy Month Through an "I Wish I Knew" Video Campaign

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Nov. 1, 2013) - Sands & Associates is pleased to be partnering with Goth & Company, Hoyes Michalos, Allan Marshall & Associates and Janes Noseworthy, Trustee firms from across Canada, to kick off the launch of the "I Wish I Knew" video contest, as part of November's Financial Literacy Month. The coast-to-coast campaign is being launched with efforts to boost a growing trend in peer-to-peer awareness and education around personal finances.

Created due to the growing concern around a lack of financial literacy in the nation and the issues that many individuals face due to a lack of knowledge, the "I Wish I Knew" video contest will run during the entire month of November. The contest, which invites individuals from across Canada to submit their own 30-second video of financial advice they wish they had been given, is launching in effort to help abolish archaic methods of financial education and speak to individuals about financial issues on a more relatable level.

Blair Mantin, VP of Sands and Associates, B.C.'s Largest Firm of Licensed Trustees and Administrators of Consumer Proposals, shares "I believe improved financial literacy is imperative to help Canadians overcome and even prevent, consumer debts. However, we know that corporate figures and stuffy methods of education haven't been working, and that people are more likely to take advice from their peers - so this campaign is a way to get the public to learn from each other, which will hopefully help others to avoid these same mistakes".

The Canadian public is invited to visit the I Wish I Knew website from November 1st to November 30th, to submit their own 30-second video giving a piece of financial advice that they wish they had known before making important decisions. The winner of the contest, announced on December 5th, will receive the $2,000 grand prize. The first 10 entrants who submit their video before November 15th will be entered into a draw to win $250.

Videos will be peer-judged online through the I Wish I Knew website. Voters may select their favourite videos once per day, where all voters will be entered into a draw to win an iPad Mini. The top three videos will be shortlisted and be considered in the final selection process.
