Sandvine Completes New Deployment in Europe

WATERLOO, ONTARIO AND LINZ, AUSTRIA--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 19, 2006) - Sandvine Corporation's (TSX:SVC)(AIM:SAND) wholly-owned subsidiary, Sandvine Incorporated, a leading provider of intelligent broadband network solutions for DSL, cable, FTTH, and wireless broadband service providers, today announced that Liwest Kabelmedien GmbH, the second largest cable operator in Austria, has deployed Sandvine's suite of DPI-based policy solutions.

Sandvine introduced DPI-based policy solutions across Liwest's 40,000 broadband-subscriber network over the past several months. Sandvine's Network Demographics solution has enabled Liwest to see and analyze traffic traversing its network. This visibility allows Liwest to diagnose congestion problems, ensure quality of service for popular and sensitive applications, while mitigating unwanted malicious traffic that was affecting valuable subscriber traffic like VoIP and gaming.

"Liwest selected Sandvine to improve service delivery to our subscribers. With insight into our subscribers' usage across the network, we have information and tools to optimize our network, improve our services, and enhance our subscribers' quality of experience," said Hubert Riedl, vice president of telecom services, Liwest Kabelmedien. "Sandvine's Attack Traffic Mitigation solution automatically identifies and mitigates malicious traffic in the network, relieving congestion both in the network, as well as in our call centers."

"Faced with increased costs and complexity of delivering triple-play services, service providers are keen on implementing solutions to control costs, while they enhance their service offering and increase subscriber satisfaction. Sandvine's DPI-based policy solutions achieve these objectives by relieving congestion in the network that result from bandwidth-intensive applications and malicious traffic, while reserving bandwidth for sensitive applications like VoIP and gaming," said Tom Donnelly, EVP, marketing and sales, Sandvine. "We are pleased to expand our footprint in Europe and work with Liwest to enhance their triple-play offering and achieve their service goals for continued customer satisfaction."

Network visibility and service control have become key to service providers' triple-play strategies. Sandvine's DPI-based policy solutions offer service providers visibility into their subscribers' usage, so they can diagnose problems before they affect overall network performance, reduce costs, enhance subscriber quality of experience, and increase revenues.
