Sandvine Deploys First Network-Wide 10-Gigabit Deep Packet Inspection-Based Policy Solution

Large European Broadband Service Provider First to Commercially Deploy Sandvine PTS 14000

WATERLOO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 8, 2006) - Sandvine Incorporated, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sandvine Corporation (TSX:SVC)(AIM:SAND), today announced that a large European broadband provider has begun network-wide deployment of Sandvine's 10-Gigabit Policy Traffic Switch (PTS) in its network serving over 500,000 residential broadband subscribers. Sandvine's PTS 14000 gives DSL, cable, FTTH, and wireless providers application-level visibility into what is happening on their networks and enables policies to improve broadband network performance and increase customer satisfaction.

Sandvine has been supporting a number of PTS 14000 trials worldwide since the platform was first launched in June 2006. Sandvine's PTS 14000 enables per-subscriber deep packet inspection (DPI)-based policy solutions to solve both business and technology challenges in the world's largest broadband networks, as they migrate to10-Gigabit connectivity.

The tier-one European service provider is deploying Sandvine's PTS 14000 in a 10-Gigabit Ethernet environment and will be using this equipment for monitoring network traffic and identifying usage trends that will allow for better network capacity planning.

"Bringing Sandvine's 10-Gig platform first-to-market and into large service provider networks with a full feature set of DPI-based policy solutions gives Sandvine a significant competitive advantage over intelligent broadband network solutions in the market today. This customer win addresses the demand for the growing number of 10-Gig links now being deployed at the service edge of the network and opens up markets for us in Europe and the rest of the world," said Tom Donnelly, executive vice president, marketing and sales, Sandvine.

"For a growing number of service providers, DPI technology plays an important role in enhancing customer satisfaction and reducing churn. DPI helps realize these goals by improving performance of IP-based multimedia applications, mitigating network attacks, and controlling network congestion," said Mark Bieberich, VP Communications Infrastructure, Yankee Group. "Sandvine's customer win is indicative of the accelerating demand for DPI-based policy solutions in large service provider networks."

Sandvine's award-winning network equipment helps cable, DSL, FTTH, and wireless broadband service providers characterize what is really happening on their networks, enabling polices that improve customer satisfaction, reduce operational costs and increase profitability. Sandvine's DPI-based policy solutions are both application and subscriber-aware, empowering service providers to better manage network traffic congestion, mitigate the proliferation of malicious traffic, and deliver QoS-prioritized multimedia services. With 65 customers in 30 countries, Sandvine is enhancing the Internet experience for millions of broadband users worldwide.
