Santa Barbara County, California Selects Accela Solution to Connect Citizens to Government Services

Upgrade to Web-Based Applications Will Provide Developers and Citizens Online Access to Permitting Processes

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, CA--(Marketwire - March 17, 2008) - Santa Barbara County, California has selected Accela Automation® from Accela, Inc. to streamline its permitting processes and improve the delivery of services to its citizens. The County's Planning & Development department staff, County citizens, and the local development community will be able to utilize the more user-friendly, easily accessible system to conduct business via the Internet.

The County is upgrading to the Web-based application from an Accela legacy product to better track and manage permits related to building, planning, and code enforcement. Planning & Development and all other departments involved in the County's land use and building permit application review process will be able to share information from a centralized database, improving efficiencies and workflow and enabling faster response to permit applicants.

"Santa Barbara County joins a growing group of Accela clients who recognize the advantages of upgrading to Web-based technology," said Maury Blackman, Accela president and CEO. "Our experience has shown that the higher the level of responsiveness government agencies provide to the public, the greater the return they see on their technology investment in terms of economic growth and development."

Santa Barbara County also selected an additional Accela product, Accela Citizen Access™, that integrates with Accela Automation to provide easy, convenient, and direct public access via the Internet to agency permit and land management processes. Online permit applications can be configured to allow citizens and businesses access to apply and pay for permits, schedule inspections, check the status of a permit or inspection, or print an approved permit directly from the Internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
