SANYO and Westburne, Division of Rexel Canada Electrical Inc, Announce Strategic Alliance to Supply Quality Solar PV Modules Across Canada

WOODBRIDGE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 6, 2011) - SANYO Canada (SANYO) announced today a strategic partnership with Westburne, a division of Rexel Canada Electrical Inc, Canada's largest distributor of electrical solutions (Westburne), to make its solar photovoltaic (PV) modules available at Westburne locations across the country in order to facilitate the supply of quality solar components to the growing number of electrical contractors in Canada operating in the solar field.

Westburne, with 110 branch locations nationwide, is the electrical supplies distributor of choice in many commercial, institutional, government, and residential markets across Canada. With 50 of these locations in Ontario, Westburne has a wealth of experience working alongside contractors of all sizes to help grow emerging markets like solar and other alternative energies.

SANYO, with more than 30 years of experience in solar technology, has demonstrated its role as a bankable solar partner in Canada through its involvement with solar projects across the country. Backed by its global parent corporation, SANYO has established key strategic alliances to ensure its industry-leading solar PV modules are set to perform at their highest potential.

Together, Westburne and SANYO will ensure that quality solar PV modules are readily available to contractors across the country, saving time and reducing costs for solar project developers.

"We look forward to offering a one stop shop for solar contractors," said Michael Muzyczka, Ontario Strategic Initiatives Manager at Westburne. "It will be a huge benefit for contractors working on job sites farther away from the large municipalities."

"We wanted an alliance that would provide easy access to SANYO PV modules for electrical contractors," added KC Chang, General Manager of Solar System Solutions at SANYO. "Together with Westburne, we should be able to reach an even greater number of contractors, which will help increase the number of solar installations and the focus on renewable energy sources."

The strategic alliance improves the position of both companies to take advantage of opportunities in the rapidly expanding solar PV market in Ontario.
