Sarah Lawrence College Dials In 1,000-Seat Hosted Voice Agreement With Lightpath

Following Successful Trial, New York-Based College Turning to the Cloud to Address Changing Voice Needs, Eliminate Management Headaches, Streamline Costs and Meet BC/DR Requirements

JERICHO, NY--(Marketwired - Mar 2, 2016) - Lightpath®, a market leader in Ethernet-based communication solutions for New York metropolitan area businesses, today announced an agreement to implement a 1,000-seat cloud-based voice system for Sarah Lawrence College in Westchester County, New York. Following successful trials of Lightpath Hosted Voice in a campus department with stringent voice and mobility needs, the College plans to expand its deployment beginning this summer.

"Our legacy phone system was failing us and the investment required to build a new system was essentially a non-starter," said Sean Jameson, chief technology officer for Sarah Lawrence College. "Lightpath was already a strategic partner, and offered the features, pricing and bulletproof infrastructure that made choosing Hosted Voice a no-brainer. We quickly started to see the flexibility that a cloud-based system can bring, especially around unprecedented mobility that improves how our staff communicates and powers our BC/DR efforts."

Trusted reliability and the latest voice features were major deciding factors for Sarah Lawrence College. Equally important was removal of the management burden and major capital outlay posed by other systems.

"Competing approaches either required us to have staff that could manage the system or pay exorbitant fees every time a change was needed," said Jameson. "Lightpath monitors and maintains the service, our users can easily make changes on their own via a Web portal and the pricing structure entitles us to a regular refresh of phones. When it came to our needs, Lightpath was able to tick every box, enabling us to take a monumental leap forward in communications without a huge investment."

Lightpath Hosted Voice is a complete cloud-based voice solution that includes all equipment, phones, installation services and expertise at a flat monthly cost with no initial capital investment required. It can scale quickly and easily as organizations grow, and day-to-day management is as simple as accessing the web.

"With Hosted Voice, we are offering customers all of the features and flexibility of the cloud, along with the reliability and support that they have come to expect from Lightpath," said Joe Flynn, senior vice president of sales for Lightpath. "Our deep focus on providing excellent customer service and support around every deployment makes Lightpath the ideal partner for organizations that want to take advantage of the latest technology advancements to drive their businesses forward."

Lightpath Hosted Voice has emerged as a popular voice solution for the education sector. In December, Lightpath announced that the offering was selected as the preferred voice solution for New Jersey's statewide Digital Readiness Learning and Assessment Project, following evaluation of several competing offerings.
