Saskatchewan Employers Honoured for Support to Canadian Forces Reservists

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwire - March 22, 2011) - The Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) recognized 12 organizations, including local businesses and educational institutions, with awards for their support to Canada's Reserve Force, in a ceremony at the Regina Inn and Conference Centre on March 21, 2011.

"There has been a steady increase in the need of our Reserve Force members to train and deploy to operations both domestically and abroad," said Mrs. Vaughn Schofield, CFLC Saskatchewan Chair. "Employer support for the necessary military leave is paramount in helping Reservists have fulfilling civilian and military careers." 

The CFLC and the Canadian Forces (CF) officially expressed their appreciation to the following employers:

  • 4 Star Ventures, Gull Lake;

  • AECOM Canada Ltd., Saskatoon;

  • Commissionaires Saskatchewan , Regina;

  • Coram Construction, Regina;

  • Highline Manufacturing Ltd., Vonda;

  • Mosaic Potash, Colonsay;

  • Parkland Ambulance Care Ltd., Prince Albert;

  • Regina Children's Justice Centre, Regina;

  • SaskTel Technology, Performance and Operations, Regina;

  • Service Canada, Regina;

  • Southeast Regional Library, Weyburn; and

  • Waymarc, Saskatoon.

"Today's event is about recognition," said Major-General Dennis Tabbernor, Chief Reserves and Cadets. "The awards are the CF's way of officially thanking those employers who support our Reserve Force."

The CFLC is a group of prominent business people who actively support the Reserve Force of the CF by encouraging industry, government and educational institutions to voluntarily grant Reservists military leave to participate in military training and operations. Primary Reservists are encouraged to show their appreciation by formally thanking their employers and/or educators with either a letter of thanks or a certificate of recognition.
