Saskatchewan Physician Leaders to Meet in Regina

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - May 8, 2014) - The Representative Assembly of the Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA) will meet in Regina on Friday, May 9 and Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Regina Travelodge to explore several key issues affecting the medical profession and patients across Saskatchewan.

Among the items on the representative assembly agenda is a presentation regarding the status of the provincial Physician Resource Plan, and an update from the College of Medicine. Other agenda items of interest include an address from the Hon. Dustin Duncan, Minister of Health, and a presentation from the President of the Canadian Medical Association, Dr. Louis Hugo Francescutti.

At the dinner on Friday, May 9, the SMA will announce the recipient of this year's Physician of the Year Award and will install the incoming president. Other highlights of this meeting are as follows:

The Representative Assembly consists of approximately 80 physicians elected from specialty sections and regions across the province. They meet twice a year to consider health issues of interest to the medical profession and to set policy for the association.
