Saskatchewan Shows Leadership With SASKBIO

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 12, 2007) - The Canadian Renewable Fuels Association today commended Premier Lorne Calvert on the new $80 million SASKBIO strategy to assist producers and communities in the construction and expansion of transportation ethanol or biodiesel (biofuels) production facilities in the province of Saskatchewan.

"Renewable fuels such as ethanol and biodiesel are sparking a renaissance in agriculture around the world," said Kory Teneycke, Executive Director, Canadian Renewable Fuels Association. "We are proud to endorse SASKBIO, as it will help farmers invest directly in biofuels facilities, not just supplying them with grain."

SASKBIO is a four-year, $80 million provincial program that provides repayable contributions of up to $10 million per project. An additional $2 million will also be provided for biofuels and bioproducts research and development.

Founded in 1994, the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association is a non-profit organization with a mission to promote renewable transportation fuels through consumer awareness and government liaison activities. The CRFA membership is comprised of representatives from all levels of the ethanol and biodiesel industry, including: grain and cellulose ethanol producers, biodiesel producers, fuel technology providers and agricultural associations.
