Saskatoon Joins The Word On The Street National Book and Magazine Festival

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 22, 2010) - The Board of Directors of The Word On The Street Canada is pleased to announce that Saskatoon will join Canada's national book and magazine festival in 2010.

"We are very pleased that the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild has established an impressive advisory board to host The Word On The Street in Saskatoon," stated Ceta Ramkhalawansingh, Board Chair, The Word On The Street Canada. "Saskatoon residents will join over 250,000 Canadians in four other cities next Sunday to celebrate reading and to advocate literacy".

"Each festival has a flavour and program reflecting the unique character of that City. Yet we share many things in common including a passion for the written word and a commitment to literacy," stated Alex Moorshead, Executive Director.

On Sunday, September 26, Canada's largest literary and literacy festival will be held in five cities across Canada - Vancouver, Saskatoon, Kitchener, Toronto and Halifax. More than 450 authors, illustrators, performers and workshop will participate in 400 programmed events along with 500 exhibits from publishers, booksellers and literacy organizations. More than 250,000 Canadians are expected to attend the free festivals. Celebrated artist Barbara Klunder has created the 2010 poster image for The Word On The Street.

The Word On The Street Canada is a national charitable organization and works with regional organizations to host annual book and magazine festivals which celebrate reading and advocate literacy.
