Saudi Arabian Hospital System Taps Synensis CEO for Patient Safety Expertise

Stephen Powell, CEO and President of Synensis, Will Present a Keynote and Two Workshops for Security Forces Hospital Quality and Safety Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - September 30, 2015) - Stephen Powell, chief executive officer and president of Synensis, has been selected to share his patient safety knowledge and expertise with the 7th Annual Security Forces Hospital Quality and Safety Program, the company announced today. He will deliver a keynote and two workshops to the three-hospital system located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

From October 19-22, Powell will be part of an international panel promoting excellence in quality improvement and patient safety. His keynote, "4 Characteristics of High Reliability Organizations (HROs)," will provide participants with the common traits that all HROs exhibit, no matter what industry they operate in. Powell will also show how high-reliability organizations all focus on avoiding serious safety events in environments where adverse events can be expected due to a multitude of high-risk factors and complexities.

Powell, who is an international expert on patient safety issues, will follow up his keynote with two management workshops: "Excellence Versus Compliance - Fostering a Culture of Excellence," and "Developing a Non-Punitive Response to Error - Using the Just Culture Approach."

"This is a considerable commitment from the Security Forces Hospital to create and hardwire a culture of safety in its hospitals," said Powell. "We are humbled that Synensis has been asked to be part of this transformation journey."

Security Forces Hospital is considered one of the leading healthcare providers in Saudi Arabia. The hospital system opened in 1972 as a small dispensary in Riyadh. In 1975, the first hospital was built, complete with 20 beds. Since then, it has grown to become one of the most well-respected hospital systems in the Kingdom. In addition, it is the only hospital system that provides services to Ministry of Interior personnel and their families.
