Sauer Energy Innovation Broadens Patent Arsenal

CAMARILLO, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 11, 2013) - Sauer Energy Inc. ("SEI") (OTCBB: SENY), developer of the patented WindCharger™ vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) and manufacturer of the patented HelixWind® vertical axis wind turbine, has applied for important new patents in late May and early June 2013, to further consolidate and protect its position as a leading developer of vertical axis wind technology. The filings cover both of the company's core proprietary products, the WindCharger and HelixWind turbines.

The most important filing concerned a synergistically designed system to give its wind-powered turbines full portability. Sauer Energy has been in regular contact with FEMA and the Department of Defense regarding the urgent need for portable wind-powered electricity generation at isolated disaster scenes, and out-of-the-way military outposts. Nothing quite like this currently exists, and both government bodies have been urgently pushing the development of self-sustaining wind and solar powered systems to meet this critical need. Portability will also be invaluable for rural environments that are far from any power grid.

Sauer plans to offer this mobile and remote adaption for the WindCharger and HelixWind turbines -- drawing power from the wind and sun and sending it to the storage management system developed with iCel Energy Solutions, Inc®. (Announced last month.) This will give Sauer a proprietary progressive sun-wind producing-charging-storage technology system that will be both portable and self-supporting.

Other recent patent applications and patent-pending filings include:

  • A proprietary design for mounting the WindCharger on any type of roof or other structure. It will be strong and better able to withstand very high winds, while also being virtually vibration-free.

  • European patents were granted for Germany, France and Great Britain. Additional European patents will be filed shortly.

  • New Zealand issued a patent to Sauer Energy in May 2013.

  • A further provisional patent has been filed for utility.

"We are excited to see our intellectual property portfolio grow, which will lead us into profitable new markets. Patent ownership and protection motivates capital investment, which will lead to more solutions, strategic alliances and growth. We are now entering a very rich market on a very solid platform," stated Dieter Sauer, CEO and President of Sauer Energy, Inc.

As the SEI evolution has progressed, the legal stable now includes a multi-hybrid of patents that cover a wide variety of applications for its turbines.

Moving forward with a pipeline of more than 6 issued patents and many more pending, SEI is establishing the important impact that small wind technology can make on the renewable energy market. Ongoing research and development represents SEI's commitment to progress in this highly lucrative market.

SEI will actively pursue distributors as well as commercial opportunities to fully exploit these technologies -- especially in the fast-growing, energy-starved Asian markets.

SEI has a worldwide family of patents issued and pending in Nigeria, India, China, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia, to name a few. The SEI strategy is to aggressively file and maintain a broad base of patents and intellectual property to protect its proprietary ownership.

Roland J. Tong of Brooks-Kushman P. C., a leading patent law firm in Los Angeles, is responsible for obtaining and maintaining SEI patents.
