Scalable Display Technologies Partners With Arotech's Realtime Technologies to Deliver Driving Simulator to Montana State University

CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwire - September 30, 2009) - Scalable Display Technologies, a leading provider of software for multi-projector display systems, today announced that it has partnered with Realtime Technologies Inc. (RTI), a leader in custom research driving simulators, to develop an integrated software solution for seamless visual displays. Under the terms of the partnership, RTI will use Scalable's EasyBlend™ software to incorporate visual edge blending and color matching solutions inside RTI's core product, SimCreator.

The two companies recently completed their first joint project, an ultra high-resolution driving simulator for the Western Transportation Institute (WTI) at Montana State University, which offers the most advanced driving simulation capabilities of any research university in North America. The WTI simulators are used to do experimental research on driver behavior and to help engineers "visualize" new technology systems or traffic engineering designs at early stages of development.

The driving simulator system installed at WTI that was developed by RTI uses five Canon SX7 LCOS-based projectors to immerse the driver in a 240-degree horizontal visual environment. Thanks to Scalable Display's EasyBlend, RTI's system is able to offer a stunning, perfectly edge-blended visual display that enables the researchers to conduct realistic safety research before extending the research to test track and open road studies.

EasyBlend automates and simplifies the creation of seamless high-intensity, high-resolution displays. The software allows users to create multiple-projector edge-blended displays in ultra high resolution with just a few clicks of a mouse. Unique for its ability to scale to deliver large, seamless and bright images with a resolution many times higher than HD, the patented EasyBlend software opens the door to the widespread use of multi-projector displays for a new class of simulators based on off-the-shelf components.
