Scalent Named One of Top 10 Virtualization Companies to Watch

Network World Recognizes Leading Virtual Server Management Solution Provider

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - August 24, 2007) - Scalent Systems, the leading provider of server repurposing software for large enterprises, has been recognized by Network World as one of the Top 10 Virtualization Companies to Watch.

Today's data centers face escalating costs and failover complexity stemming from out-of-control server sprawl, shackled server hardware, and increasingly stringent regulatory requirements for business continuity. These challenges result in a lack of IT agility in the face of rapidly changing operational demands and a corresponding reduction in profitability. Unlike many failover or automation solutions, Scalent software overcomes these challenges. Leading customers in their respective industries, such as Ameriquest, Blackboard, and Carilion Clinic, have chosen Scalent software to rapidly repurpose servers and deploy them to different physical and virtual machines and different network topologies.

Scalent software deploys server software to physical and virtual machines with the appropriate network and storage connectivity. Scalent manages industry-standard x86, SPARC, and Power hardware, along with industry-standard network and storage appliances. The server software that Scalent supports includes Windows, Linux, Solaris, and AIX operating systems, as well as VMware ESX and Xen virtualization hypervisors. With Scalent, companies can take their existing machines from dead, bare metal to live, networked servers, in five minutes or less.

"This recognition by Network World is important validation of Scalent's game-changing ability to remotely turn on servers and provision them with the correct network and storage access -- all in the space of boot time," said Kevin Epstein, vice president of products at Scalent. "Scalent is the first company to deliver comprehensive server repurposing software for the entire data center -- and in the process, we are enabling data center managers to radically increase flexibility and drive down the cost of infrastructure design and deployment."

Network World published its list of Top 10 Virtualization Companies to Watch to showcase innovative technology companies whose products boost performance, make management easier, and enhance the virtualization experience. Companies were selected based on the overall effectiveness of their solutions in addressing enterprise challenges in the areas of desktop management, I/O processing bottlenecks, unwieldy file storage, virtual server management and disaster recovery.
