Scalent Systems Named to AlwaysOn AO100 Top Private Companies Innovators List

Company Praised for Leadership in Emerging Technology and Global Business Potential

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - July 18, 2007) - Scalent Systems, the leader in server repurposing software, today announced that it has been chosen by AlwaysOn as one of the AO100 Top Private Companies for 2007, gaining recognition for innovation, market potential, customer adoption, and investor value creation. The fifth-annual elite AO100 list was compiled by the AlwaysOn editorial panel. In order to be eligible for the AO100 list, companies had to be peer-nominated, with AlwaysOn receiving more than 1,000 nominations from venture investors, investment bankers and other industry experts. The winning AlwaysOn 100 Top Private Companies were unveiled at a special evening reception Tuesday, July 17th at KPMG in Mountain View. Scalent is a winner in the Infrastructure category.

Scalent Systems recently announced the disaster recovery edition of its Scalent V/OE software, enabling customers to effectively create adaptive infrastructure software for their data center, addressing not only individual servers, but also the entire related network connectivity and storage access environment. With Scalent software, customers can take their data centers from "dead bare metal" (powered off hardware with no software installed) to live (newly deployed or restored), connected (to network and storage) servers, in five minutes or less.

This infrastructure flexibility allows IT organizations to provision for average demand and shift spare resources to match real-time business needs. The result: higher IT asset utilization, less costly failover and disaster recovery alternatives, rapid and efficient test and lifecycle processes, and a more easily managed infrastructure.

Scalent Systems and the AO100 Top Private Companies for 2007 will also be honored at the AlwaysOn Stanford Summit to be held July 31 - August 2, 2007 at Stanford University. The Stanford Summit is a two-and-a-half-day executive gathering that highlights the significant economic, political and commercial trends affecting the global technology industries. The AO100 top private companies list identifies the most promising entrepreneurial opportunities and investments in the global technology industry.

To select the final winners, AlwaysOn editors and KPMG, along with venture investors, investment bankers, and technology insiders, sorted through more than 1,000 global company nominations, evaluating each company against several criteria: innovation, market opportunity, commercialization, media buzz, and stakeholder value creation. AO100 winning companies come from an array of technology sectors, including Consumer & Entertainment, Devices & Components, Enterprise, Mobile & Wireless, Network & Infrastructure and Services & Enablers. "Scalent's selection as an AO100 winner recognizes our success in relieving data center operators' biggest headaches: escalating costs and reaction-time challenges stemming from out-of-control server sprawl and statically coupled server hardware," said Ben Linder, CEO of Scalent Systems. "Scalent is the first company to deliver comprehensive adaptive infrastructure software for the entire data center -- and in the process, we are enabling data center managers to radically increase flexibility and reduce response time, while combating spiraling IT costs. It's a win-win for the company and our customers' bottom line."
