DES PLAINES, IL--(Marketwire - September 12, 2007) - Schawk, Inc. (NYSE : SGK ), one of the
world's leading providers of digital imaging graphic services to the
consumer products and brand imaging markets, announced today that it has
completed the acquisitions of Perks Design Partners and Brand ID, both
Australian-based brand strategy and design firms with approximately $5.9
million in combined annual revenues. Each becomes part of Anthem
Worldwide, a Schawk strategic design company.
Perks Design Partners is one of Australia's leading integrated brand
identity consultancies with offices in Melbourne and Sydney. Since 1992,
they have served the needs of leading companies, helping create and grow a
diverse range of some of Australia's best known brands.
Brand ID, located in Sydney and established in 2006, has also served the
design needs of some of Australia's top brands.
Chris Perks, former principal of Perks Design Partners, will serve as
managing director of Anthem's Melbourne office. Andrew Lewis, former
partner of Brand ID, will serve as the managing director of Anthem's Sydney
office. Lewis was previously the founder and managing director of what is
now Landor Associates in Australia.
"Our acquisition of Perks Design Partners and Brand ID is consistent with
our strategy to expand the influence, presence and credentials of Anthem
Worldwide," said David A. Schawk, president and chief executive officer.
"We are now capable of offering a comprehensive integrated solution -- from
strategic branding and design through premedia services -- to the
Australian market."
According to Anne Marie Pagliacci, executive vice president and group
managing director of Anthem Worldwide, "Anthem's networked model of
operating will allow us to leverage the strategic and creative talent at
Perks Design Partners and Brand ID on behalf of our clients worldwide."
Chris Perks added, "Our decision to be acquired by Schawk and to be a part
of Anthem Worldwide was influenced by our desire to be part of the global
design market. We see the benefits as two way. Inwardly, we will now have
direct access to trends and innovations from the world's major markets,
which will benefit both our corporate and consumer brand clients.
Outwardly, we have the opportunity to contribute to the global marketplace
as part of a fast-growing company that is dedicated to offering compelling
design solutions to major multinational companies."
Andrew Lewis concluded, "This is a fabulous opportunity to help establish
and build a new force from the ground up within the Australian market. With
the world's best practice premedia resources of Schawk, we can truly offer
our clients tangible benefits through our comprehensive solutions. It is a
win-win for us all."
The company will be known as AnthemPerks for a short time before migrating
to the Anthem name and identity. This will allow Anthem the opportunity to
leverage the equity and goodwill associated with the Perks brand name in
the Australian market. Anthem's existing talent in the Australian market
will be consolidated into the Sydney office of the former Perks Design
Partners. Schawk also has offices in Sydney that deliver premedia services
to the marketplace.
Schawk's globally integrated brand image management supply chain solutions
are custom built for clients based on services that include branding and
strategic design through Anthem Worldwide, production and premedia services
through Schawk's graphic services group and content and graphics lifecycle
