Schneider Electric Named a "Visionary" in Gartner Magic Quadrant Report Analyzing GIS Providers for Utilities

GIS Solution Was Evaluated Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute

FORT COLLINS, CO--(Marketwired - Oct 21, 2014) -  Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, today announced that it was named a "visionary" in a report that analyzed commercial geographic information system (GIS) solutions supporting electric, water and gas utility networks from Gartner, Inc., the world's leading information technology research and advisory company.

The report, "Magic Quadrant for Utilities Geographic Information Systems," written by Gartner analyst Randy Rhodes, examined the strengths and cautions of geospatial solutions offered by five global providers of commercial GIS solutions supporting electric, water and gas utility networks.

Schneider Electric is positioned furthest for its ArcFM solution on the "completeness of vision" axis in the Magic Quadrant. Schneider Electric is an Esri partner, taking advantage of their platform that fully supports cloud, mobility, and social and continuous advancements.

Schneider Electric believes the Gartner positioning to be a result of the breadth of its product, its market understanding and how it is leveraging Esri's enterprise geospatial platform. Additionally, Schneider Electric puts an emphasis on providing exceptional customer service, offering biweekly meetings to demonstrate agile product developments and gather customer feedback.

According to John Leiferman, Schneider Electric senior vice president of Cloud Services, "We are proud to have been placed in the Visionaries Quadrant for our ArcFM solution in the widely-respected Gartner Magic Quadrant report. GIS is the cornerstone of asset tracking for many utilities across the world, and we continue to strive to help make operations safer, more efficient and more reliable."

As a widely-recognized source for competitive comparisons in the information technology industry, Gartner Magic Quadrant reports offer in-depth analyses and visual summaries in the direction and maturity of markets and key vendors. For this report, Gartner analyzed GIS providers offering functional capabilities to global markets in the categories of facilities mapping, mobility support and system interfaces.
