SCIenergy Sells Servidyne Business Unit

Servidyne Employees to Operate Company as Independent Business

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwired - May 16, 2014) - SCIenergy, a pioneer in optimizing buildings for energy performance and value, has sold its Servidyne engineering business unit to a group of long-time Servidyne employees. Servidyne, originally founded in 1974, has been managed as a separate unit of SCIenergy since SCIenergy acquired it in 2011. It will now become an independent company.

"This transaction will enable both SCIenergy and Servidyne to concentrate on their core strengths and grow more rapidly in what has become one of the most dynamic segments of the real estate market," said Steve Gossett Jr., SCIenergy CEO. "Property owners and utilities are increasingly recognizing the impact that technologies and services like ours can have on their bottom line."

SCIenergy specializes in developing software and innovative financing solutions to upgrade the infrastructure and critical systems like lighting and HVAC in commercial, industrial, municipal and other types of facilities. Through EnergyScape™, its innovative cloud-based platform, and its Managed Energy Service Agreement (MESA®), SCIenergy can lower energy consumption in buildings by 20 to 40% while capturing the savings to fund upgrades that increase occupant satisfaction and capital return. SCIenergy collaborates with Mitsui USA, EMCOR and other leaders in building engineering and construction to execute projects on behalf of customers. The partnership strategy is a fundamental element of SCIenergy's strategy for growth and will be expanded following the Servidyne sale.

Servidyne's award-winning engineering group has concentrated on energy and sustainability consulting for owners and managers of commercial buildings. By becoming independent companies, SCIenergy and Servidyne will be able to participate in a wider variety of projects and customer segments.

"Working with SCIenergy has accelerated our knowledge in the fast-growing fields of advanced building analytics and innovative energy project financing," said Barry Abramson, one of Servidyne's Principals. "We look forward to potential collaboration with SCIenergy in the future, as Servidyne emerges as an independent engineering consulting firm."
