Scientific Learning Expands Support Offering

New Progress Monitoring Component Will Assist All Schools

OAKLAND, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 12, 2005 -- Scientific Learning Corp. (NASDAQ: SCIL), a pioneer and leader in the field of neuroscience-based reading and literacy interventions, has announced additional components to its support offering.

The company has implemented a new initiative called Progress Monitoring, which will go beyond results monitoring to allow Scientific Learning's team to offer increased support to all school-based customers. According to Jill McCormack, Vice President of Customer Operations, Progress Monitoring will ensure that all educational sites using the company's Fast ForWord® line of computer-based products receive regular, proactive calls offering specific recommendations for the use of the software.

"We are putting energy and effort into partnering with each of our sites to make them as successful as possible with their students," explained Ms. McCormack.

She said the initiative will allow for early, frequent, and cost-effective intervention with clients new to the Fast ForWord products and will also support long-term customers.

"The first two to four weeks, we'll be calling teachers frequently to help them understand and interpret results and help keep students on the right track," she said. "We provide instructional strategies to move students along, or offer motivational techniques for students and teachers. After the initial start-up period we continue to contact our sites on an ongoing basis to help students get the most out of using the Fast ForWord family of products."

An educational site's performance is monitored daily through Progress Tracker, Scientific Learning's powerful online results-monitoring tool, which provides real-time information on a site's progress. The number of calls to each site is based on this information from Progress Tracker, with sites showing lower performance receiving more contact.

"The initial feedback from our customers is very positive to this expanded support offering. They like the fact that we care about their progress and appreciate the specific instructional strategies we share with them, and our sales- and field-based service professionals have the same view," said Ms. McCormack. "The benefits of Progress Monitoring will be enjoyed as part of our support offering, which when coupled with our other support components is a very rich resource for our customers. We are rolling out Progress Monitoring first to our new school customers and to all customers who purchase support by the end of the first quarter."

In addition to the rollout of Progress Monitoring, Scientific Learning's Customer Connect Web site -- which provides support and guidance for schools, educators, and individuals using Scientific Learning's family of Fast ForWord products -- has been redesigned with an entirely new look and feel, including improved navigation and graphics.
