Scotiabank Place Nominated for Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry Award

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 27, 2009) - In advance of Canadian Music Week, Scotiabank Place has been nominated by the Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry for the Air Canada Centre Major Facility of the Year Award.

"Scotiabank Place continues to attract the best of what the entertainment industry has to offer," said Tom Conroy, vice-president and executive director of Scotiabank Place. "This nomination continues to display that Ottawa is a recognized and regular stop for all major concerts and events."

Widely recognized as Canada's international music convention, Canadian Music Week festivities will take place in Toronto from March 11 to 14. Award recipients will be announced at a gala event at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel on Thursday, March 12.

Scotiabank Place is vying for the prestigious award with Montreal's Bell Centre, Hamilton's Copps Coliseum, Vancouver's GM Place, Halifax's Metro Centre, Winnipeg's MTS Centre, Edmonton's Rexall Place and Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre in the live touring (capacity over 8,000) category.

Now in its 28th year of presenting broadcast, live touring, retail and recording-related awards, the Canadian Music & Broadcast Industry invites members of the entertainment industry to register to vote by visiting http://www.cmw.net. Votes are being accepted through Sunday, March 1.
