Scotiabank Place set to host 2010 CIS Final 8 Men’s Basketball Championship, presented by Milk

Carleton Ravens seeking back-to-back titles in final hometown Nationals’ appearance

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 18, 2010) - In conjunction with Canadian Interuniversity Sport and Scotiabank Place, the host organizing committee for the 2010 CIS Final 8 Men's Basketball Championship presented by Milk is preparing for the tournament's third and final appearance in Ottawa, which is being held this weekend at Scotiabank Place.

The top-ranked Carleton University Ravens (Ottawa) attempt to return to the championship game for the seventh time in eight years as they begin play on Friday evening against the Université de Québec à Montréal Citadins at 8 p.m. The tournament gets underway on Friday at 12:30 p.m., when the second-seeded Cape Breton University Capers oppose the No. 7 University of Calgary Dinos.

Doubleheader session tickets, which include entry to two games, are available starting at $20 per session. Full tournament packages, which include a ticket to each of the tournament's 10 games, are also on sale. Friday's opening session continues at 2:30 p.m., when the third-seeded University of British Columbia Thunderbirds (Vancouver) meet the sixth-ranked Lakehead University Thunderwolves (Thunder Bay, Ont.), while the evening session begins at 6 p.m. when the fourth-seeded University of Windsor Lancers play the No. 5 University of Saskatchewan Huskies (Saskatoon).

Bert's Bar, located inside Scotiabank Place, will serve as basketball headquarters throughout the weekend, with more than 20 high-definition televisions broadcasting CIS and NCAA tournament action.

Friday's games are single-elimination matchups, with the four winners advancing to Saturday evening's semifinal session games at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. The consolation semifinals take place earlier on Saturday, with games at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The lone Sunday session features revised start times for the fifth-place game at 4 p.m. and the championship game at 6:30 p.m. All five sessions (10 games in total) will take place at Scotiabank Place.
